Updates on former Duke basketball players making headlines in college basketball. Seven Blue Devils transferred to new NCAA programs last season, with Jeremy Roach heading to Baylor, Jaylen Blakes to Stanford, Mark Mitchell to Missouri, Sean Stewart to Ohio State and then Oregon, Jaden Schutt to Virginia Tech, Christian Reeves to Clemson and ultimately the College of Charleston, and TJ Power to Virginia and now Penn.
Roach and Blakes have exhausted their eligibility, with Roach's Baylor team falling to Duke in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 last season. However, the remaining five players are all making significant contributions at their new schools, averaging at least 16 minutes per game.
Mark Mitchell, in his second season at Missouri, has increased his scoring from 13.9 points to 17.1 points, alongside 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 29.4 minutes per game for the 8-0 Tigers. Sean Stewart, after transferring to Oregon, is now averaging a career-high 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds across 21.7 minutes per game.
Jaden Schutt at Virginia Tech is enjoying a breakout season, averaging 10.3 points with impressive shooting percentages of 45.0 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range. Christian Reeves, who transferred to the College of Charleston, is starting six of seven games, averaging 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 16.3 minutes.
TJ Power, now at Penn, is making his mark as a starter, averaging 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 42.9 percent overall and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the current Duke team under coach Jon Scheyer is ranked No. 4 in the nation and boasts an 8-0 record, preparing to face No. 10 Florida at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Tuesday at 7:30 PM ET.
