IndiGo Airlines Faces Massive Flight Cancellations in India

IndiGo Airlines has faced severe operational disruptions, resulting in over 1,000 flight cancellations across India, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. Actor Sonu Sood urged passengers to remain calm and not to lash out at ground staff, who are equally helpless in the situation, as chaos unfolded in multiple airports.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has set up a four-member committee to investigate the reasons behind these cancellations and has suspended new pilot duty time regulations to aid in restoring services.

Passengers reported heartbreaking travel nightmares, including missed competitions and lost luggage, as they struggled to find alternative travel arrangements amidst the chaos. The government has prioritized passenger needs, with Union aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu emphasizing the importance of timely air travel for vulnerable groups.

IndiGo's CEO Pieter Elbers acknowledged the impact on passenger confidence and indicated that normal operations could return between December 10 and 15.
