Roanoke Strip Club Reopens After Permit Issued
Full Transcript
A Roanoke strip club is moving forward with plans to reopen after receiving a building permit for renovations. The permit, issued on November 24, 2023, to applicant Brent Jackson, allows for a $50,000 remodel of the venue located at 3121 Franklin Road, which is identified as the Gold and Silver Club.
City officials have determined that the strip club can reopen without needing special approval from the city zoning board, as it was established while the zoning ordinance permitted adult entertainment at that location and has not been deemed abandoned, according to Zoning Administrator Phillip Moore.
The club's business license is still active and was issued in the name of Southwest Virginia Investments, which operates under the name Gold & Silver Private Club. Jackson, a veteran of the adult entertainment industry with three decades of experience, has intentions to revive the venue previously known as Gold & Silver Gentlemans Club, which has undergone several name changes in the past, including Girls, Girls, Girls and Juicie's Exotic Cabaret.
The club has a history of legal issues, including a fine for unlawful exposure in 1997 and a lawsuit from its dancers in 2014 over pay disputes. The club was temporarily closed by health inspectors in May 2024, but has since taken steps toward reopening.
Renovations are set to include new paint, carpet, tile, roofing, fixtures, and the installation of a 144-square-foot stage with a drink rail. Jackson has not announced an official opening date, but if successful, this would mark the first time in some time that a strip club has operated in Roanoke.
Notably, a sign has been approved to rename the venue to Lust Gentlemens Club. However, the renovation process faced a setback last month when city authorities issued a code violation notice for starting renovations without a permit.
The newly issued permit comes with a cost of $441 and is valid until May 23, 2026, unless an extension is requested. Jackson claims to have a lease agreement for the property, while Deirdre Glynn, an attorney for property owner Robert C.
Harbour, stated that Harbour is unaware of any association with Jackson and is looking into the lease situation. Harbour, an eye surgeon in Pensacola, Florida, grew up in Roanoke and is related to a previous owner of the club.
The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority shows that Southwest Virginia Investments holds a license to serve alcoholic beverages at the Franklin Road address, which is valid through September 2026.
Jackson's wife, Lynn Perkins, is reported as the president of Southwest Virginia Investments.
