Long-Standing Salons Close After Decades of Service
Full Transcript
The closure of long-standing salons like the Grecian Beauty Salon and a Supercuts location in Citrus Heights underscores significant challenges in the beauty industry. The Grecian Beauty Salon, which operated for 45 years in Fountain Hills, was owned by sisters Terri Schmidt and Robin Lueck, who expressed gratitude to the community for their support.
This salon was originally purchased in 1980, and after numerous relocations, it had settled in its last spot for 25 years. Similarly, the Supercuts on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights, which opened in 1981, closed its doors on November 16, 2023, following the retirement of Cheryl Wilhelm, a key figure in its history.
Although the closure was a corporate decision and not due to staffing issues, all four stylists relocated to a nearby Supercuts, ensuring clients can still receive services from their preferred professionals.
These closures reflect broader concerns about sustainability and shifting consumer preferences in the beauty sector.
