An impressive nonprofit is celebrating its 40th anniversary, having distributed billions of dollars worth of goods to families in need. Founded in 1985, Delivering Good has sent over $3 billion in clothing, toys, and home goods to individuals affected by poverty, disaster, and other life challenges, all free of charge.

The organization's focus on disaster relief has grown, with initiatives like the Basic Comforts Pack, which provides essential items to offer comfort and hope. The journey began when co-founders Karen Bromley, Barbara Toback, and Ezra Dabah asked nonprofits whether they preferred money or new products.

The unanimous answer was new products, highlighting the importance of dignity and hope for children in foster care and those living in poverty. Karen Bromley shared her own experiences in foster care and the impact of receiving new clothing and toys, which could make a child feel special and valued.

In 2005, the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita led industry leader Allan Ellinger to mobilize resources for families in crisis, resulting in the formation of Fashion Delivers. This organization focused on delivering new products to adults affected by disasters.

The two organizations merged, united by a shared mission to uphold the dignity of individuals in need and leverage the power of the industry to respond to crises. Delivering Good has responded to numerous natural disasters over the years, partnering with thousands of brands, manufacturers, and retailers to redirect excess inventory to those who need it most.

Their trusted community partners ensure that the products reach the right recipients. Allan Ellinger noted the initial goal of solving a problem and expressed surprise at the continued relevance of their mission after 40 years.

Matthew Fasciano, the current President and CEO, emphasized the organization's future goals of scaling operations and innovating further to help improve the lives of 50 million people in the coming years.

The organization views its contributions as more than just clothing; they are a starting point for healing, confidence, and new beginnings for families facing hardships. Delivering Good invites individuals to learn more or support their mission through donations, reinforcing the importance of community support in uplifting families in need.
