Digital artist Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, has made headlines with his latest art installation at Art Basel Miami Beach, featuring a $100,000 robot dog project. According to TechCrunch, the installation is called Regular Animals and includes robotic dogs with hyper-realistic heads resembling notable figures like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol.
The robot dogs capture images through cameras mounted on their chests, and these images are processed by AI, humorously described as being 'pooped out' as prints. Part of the project includes 256 prints that come with QR codes, offering collectors a free NFT in bags labeled 'Excrement Sample.' Interestingly, Beeple included a self-portrait dog in his lineup, which sold first, surprising him.
This marks a significant moment in Beeple's career, following his previous success when a digital collage sold for $69 million at Christie's, which fueled an NFT boom. Beeple's collaboration with Musk on this eccentric venture highlights the bizarre and entertaining side of billionaire culture in the art world.
