A suspected norovirus outbreak has led to the closure of Roberts Elementary School in Medford for two consecutive days. According to Boston.com, over 130 students were absent on Wednesday, and more than 20 staff members reported feeling ill, prompting the Medford Board of Health to conduct an inspection.

While the building was deemed safe and clean, officials noted that the number of sick individuals would hinder a structured learning environment. The Centers for Disease Control has highlighted that norovirus is highly contagious, spreading through contaminated food, water, or surfaces.

They recommend thorough handwashing and proper food handling to prevent its spread. Meanwhile, the California Department of Public Health issued a warning regarding TRE House brand Magic Mushroom products containing harmful synthetic compounds.

These products could lead to severe health issues, including hospitalization or death, particularly among children who might mistake them for candy. The CDPH is investigating TRE House and has already destroyed over 1,000 pounds of these products.

No illnesses have been reported yet, but consumers are urged to avoid these items and seek medical attention if adverse effects occur.
