Gov. JB Pritzker headlined a political fundraiser co-hosted by Rob Reiner just days before the acclaimed filmmaker and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead with stab wounds at their Los Angeles home.

Pritzker condemned President Donald Trump's dismissive response to the violent attack on social media, where Trump suggested that Rob Reiner's death was a result of what he termed 'TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.' Los Angeles police reported that the Reiners' son, Nick Reiner, was in custody for their deaths.

Speaking at a press conference, Pritzker expressed his disbelief at Trump's comments, emphasizing the Reiners' commitment to philanthropy and community service. Pritzker stated, 'I was with them four days ago.

These are some terrific people. They care deeply about people.' His sentiments were echoed by other politicians from both parties, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, who criticized the nature of Trump's remarks as inappropriate and disrespectful, especially in light of the family's tragedy.

Massie highlighted the common struggles families face with mental health and addiction issues, stating, 'Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It's incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder.' Trump, however, stood by his comments, asserting that he was not a fan of Rob Reiner in any way.
