Ethan Hawke Reflects on Robin Williams' Mental Health Struggles

Ethan Hawke recalled being aware of Robin Williams' mental health struggles during the filming of Dead Poets Society. In an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, Hawke stated that Williams' end does not define his life, reflecting on the complexity of his emotional state.

Hawke noted, 'I was aware of the complexity of his emotional life,' and mentioned that he has experienced depression in his family. He shared a vivid memory of Williams, saying, 'I remember, once, he was making up lines, and everybody's laughing... and I saw him hiding in a little corner, just hiding in the dark, by himself.' Hawke concluded that while Williams battled his own psyche, he still managed to inspire others, saying, 'The end of his life does not define his life to me.'
