Southwest Airlines is expanding its service from Las Vegas to Hawaii, adding three weekly flights to Hilo starting August 6, 2024. This complements the existing five weekly flights to Honolulu, highlighting Las Vegas's increasing prominence as a travel destination.

Adam Decaire, Southwest Airlines Senior Vice President of Network Planning, emphasized the importance of Las Vegas to Hawaii residents and the ease of connections to over 75 destinations from Las Vegas.

The new service aims to strengthen ties with Hawaii, known as the Ninth Island, according to Steve Hill, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Additionally, Southwest will provide special flights for the Merrie Monarch Festival 2026, further solidifying its commitment to serving the Hawaiian community and enhancing tourism in Las Vegas.
