A Las Vegas man, Edwin R. Lora, aged 36, has been charged with open murder after allegedly killing his father, Edgar Dwight Davidson. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at a residence near Eastern Avenue and Tropicana Avenue, where Lora reportedly shot Davidson three times in the head.
Following the shooting, Lora went to a nearby 7-Eleven store around 5 p.m. and told an employee that he had just killed his father. In an arrest report, Lora claimed to investigators that he was Jesus and referred to his father as God.
He stated that he attempted to call for help at two neighboring residences before seeking assistance at the convenience store. Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. As of Friday, Lora is being held at the Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Monday.
The Clark County coroner's office had not yet confirmed Davidson's identity as of Friday afternoon. This case underscores ongoing crime concerns within the Las Vegas community, particularly regarding safety and law enforcement effectiveness, as highlighted in recent reports by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
