Henderson Police Department recently undertook a multi-day enforcement campaign from December 2 to December 12, focusing on illegal electric bicycle and e-motorcycle use, resulting in nearly 50 citations.

Capt. Seth Van Beveren reported that 97 vehicles were stopped, with 50 warnings issued and 47 citations, primarily for operating unregistered vehicles. Fourteen e-motorcycles, classified as e-dirt bikes, were impounded, as these vehicles are illegal to operate on roadways, sidewalks, and parks in Henderson.

The focus of the operation was on middle and high school riders, particularly in school zones and parks. This crackdown comes in response to an increase in accidents involving e-bikes, with 51 crashes reported this year, up from 25 in 2024.

Van Beveren urged parents to educate their children about the safety and legality of these devices and emphasized that enforcement will continue as part of ongoing safety efforts in the community.
