A Clark County employee, TinaTheresa Poto-Nunu, is accused of stealing over $27,000 from deceased residents whose estates were being managed by the county. According to a grand jury indictment returned on Tuesday, Poto-Nunu used her position at the Clark County Public Guardians Office to access financial accounts of three deceased individuals identified only as C.C., L.L., and R.S.

Federal prosecutors allege that between January 13, 2021, and February 2024, she wire transferred funds from these accounts to pay down her personal credit card, including amounts of $7,360.77 in September 2021, $10,143.26 in April 2022, and $10,225.15 in June 2022.

Poto-Nunu faces charges of money laundering and money transactions in criminally derived property, with a potential maximum of 40 years in federal prison and a $750,000 fine. The case amplifies scrutiny of the Public Administrators Office, which has been under the spotlight since the 2022 murder conviction of former public administrator Robert Telles.

This incident resonates with earlier high-profile cases in Southern Nevada, including that of former guardian April Parks, who was sentenced to 16 to 40 years in prison for exploiting vulnerable individuals under her care.
