Democrat Congresswoman Delia Ramirez from Illinois has initiated an impeachment push against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. On December 11, Ramirez sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee requesting an investigation into Noem, alleging unlawful conduct, misuse of federal funds, and ethical violations in her role at the Department of Homeland Security.

Ramirez claims Noem has committed multiple infractions, including a $200 million taxpayer-funded public relations campaign involving vendors with ties to her and senior DHS officials, and the authorization of a partisan video displayed in airports during the government shutdown beginning October first, which she asserts violates the Hatch Act.

Additionally, Ramirez criticizes the purchase of two Gulfstream jets for $172 million, misleading public statements regarding ICE detentions, and excessive force used by DHS agents. During a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Ramirez stated, 'Your options are limited.

Either you're going to resign, Trump's going to fire you, or you will be impeached.' She emphasized Noem's disregard for the rule of law and accountability, highlighting her previous calls for resignation.

This impeachment effort occurs amid Noem’s aggressive immigration enforcement agenda, which has seen 2.5 million illegal aliens leave the U.S. and over 600,000 deportations under her leadership. While President Trump continues to support Noem, this impeachment inquiry reflects rising tensions within the federal government regarding immigration policies.

Ramirez's actions echo similar impeachment efforts by fellow Democrats against other cabinet members, indicating an increasing trend of political accountability in the current administration.
