In a recent interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, Greene stated that Trump has forsaken his base by failing to prioritize domestic issues, which she believes should be the focus of an America First agenda.

She claimed, "For an America First president, the No. 1 focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn't," indicating a significant shift from her previous support. Greene's break with Trump escalated after she signed a bipartisan discharge petition to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a move that angered Trump and led to him calling her a "traitor." She revealed that this fallout resulted in her receiving death threats, which she directly attributed to Trump's comments.

Greene has also expressed concerns that many Republicans are afraid to criticize Trump, saying they are "terrified to step out of line" for fear of backlash from him. Greene's evolving stance is reflected in her statement that she identifies as "America First" rather than MAGA, a term she associates solely with Trump.

Despite her resignation announcement, which is set for January 2025, Greene maintains she has no plans to run for any other office, insisting, "I have zero desire to run for president."
