In June, she resigned from JKN following allegations from the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding the falsification of company records. Jakapong also stepped down from her position with the Miss Universe Organization in October 2023.

Current reports indicate that JKN is under an automatic stay due to Jakapong's business rehabilitation filing earlier this year. Activist Sondhi claims that Jakapong's relocation to Mexico is an attempt to evade her legal responsibilities.
