Kevin Spacey has opened up about his challenging living situation, revealing that he is currently residing in hotels and Airbnbs after experiencing significant career setbacks due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Spacey stated, "I'm living in hotels; I'm living in Airbnbs; I'm going where the work is. I literally have no home, that's what I'm attempting to explain." He highlighted the financial strain he has faced, describing his situation as "not great" and noting that the costs over the past seven years have been astronomical, with very little income coming in and everything going out.
Spacey lost his previous home due to these financial issues, which he detailed in a previous interview with Piers Morgan, where he mentioned that he was millions of dollars in debt and had undergone foreclosure on his Baltimore residence.
The controversies surrounding Spacey began in 2017 when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of making unwanted advances at a party when Rapp was underage. This accusation triggered a wave of similar allegations against Spacey, leading to his dismissal from the Netflix series "House of Cards" and a halt in production for its sixth season.
Spacey was later ordered to pay over $30 million to the production company for losses incurred from his firing. Despite these setbacks, Spacey remains optimistic about his future in Hollywood. He expressed a belief that a major comeback is possible, stating, "If Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call tomorrow, it will be over.
I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone." He mentioned ongoing communications with influential figures in the industry who are interested in reintegrating him into film and television projects.
Recently, Spacey has taken on a few roles, including a part in the Italian film "The Man Who Drew God" and a one-man stage show in Cyprus and Tel Aviv that mixes songs and stories. Although he has faced numerous legal challenges, including being acquitted of all sex offense charges in the U.K. earlier this year, he continues to hold hope for a resurgence in his acting career.
Spacey stated, "I believe it's going to happen," reflecting his desire to return to the screen and regain his place in Hollywood.
